A rough beginning…

Sooo, introducing the new kitten to four-year-old kenzkat was quite a process. I actually didn’t let them meet face to face for about two weeks. I kept Felony in the spare bedroom and Kenz would frequently sniff/growl around the outside of her door. The vet suggested this approach so that Kenz would get used to her scent first.

After a few days of separation, I put felony in her carrier and brought her out to meet Kenz. I kept doing this until Kenzie’s growling subsided.

Eventually, we let them roam together….which left Kenz trying to find an escape in moving boxes, as seen below…

Meet Felony

IMG_1769As a law school graduation present to myself, I adopted “Goofy” from the Indiana County Humane Society in Indiana County, Pennsylvania.

Nothing but GREAT things to say about this shelter…I’ve never set foot in an animal shelter with more loving volunteers, and you could tell that ALL the animals had been handled, loved, and well taken care of.

SO! If you’re looking to adopt in the surrounding area, I’d definitely check them out — I drove 3.5 hours for this little furbaby, and she was totally worth it.

Crazy Cat Lady House

So, last week I was working out (P90X woot woot!) in my basement and all of a sudden I heard kittens crying….

Immediately, I tried not to get my hopes up….surely there were not kittens outside my window.

I resumed my workout.

Then, I heard the pitiful meows again. Perhaps my “welcome to the cat house flag”, glow in the dark eyed cat lawn ornament, and “cats welcome here” flower pot sign had finally paid off and attracted kittens!!! I immediately ran outside. The crying was coming from the bushes. I started digging for kittens when a mamma cat suddenly jumped out, scaring me half to death.

As I continued to search the bushes, my friends arrived to help….and here’s what we found…..

I’ve been feeding mamma cat and hopefully baby cat ever since. My landlords won’t allow another inside cat and kenzkat wasn’t pleased…. but who says I can’t take on a couple outside cats?!

Welcome to the fam, baby bishop.

Kenzie, the Lawyer

She studied hard for the LSAT….

She struggled through her 1L year….

Last semester, she made it through five finals totaling 20+ hours worth of testing.

And tomorrow, she’ll take the final exam of her 2L year.

Almost 2/3 crazy cat lady… Attorney! May 2013 can’t come soon enough!!

Kenzie, the box cat.

She is obsessed with boxes and bags. I think she’s a little bigger than a 6.5 though…..

Kenzie, the lazy cat.

Ohhhh how I wish I was a KenzieKat.

Kenzie, the Snowbird

It’s SNOWING here today. Indeed we are under some sort of “winter” advisory. It’s spring. Three weeks of beautiful 75+ degree weather has had Kenzie and her mamma vastly spoiled. Kenz has been longing for a leisurely porch lounge all day but refuses to go past the deck door.

Kenzie, the distracting cat

It’s finals time, and in law school that means it’s time to cram an entire semesters worth of what you should have already learned into your brain. Kenzie doesn’t understand this concept at all.

Her distractions usually work. This little “sausage roll” trick got me unfocused from my civil rights paper immediately. Ugh.

Kenzie, the Thief

Had the girls over today, and as usual, Kenzie insisted on hopping in Kaleigh’s bag to ensure no hairthings or toys were lingering it it. She’s been known to steal random items from my friends bags on numerous occasions. The bigger the bag, the more likely KenzieKat will sift her way through it.

Cat Tip of the Day: Do not leave purses unattended in a fetching cat’s presence.

Kenzie, the Resourceful Cat

Last night, I bought fleece sheets in anticipation of a cold winter. I immediately put the sheets on my bed, and Kenzie immediately made the container the sheets came in her new bed. Who needs expensive cat beds when you have plastic boxes that new sheets come in?

She’s slept in the box so much, that I’m considering decorating the thing. I’ve already added a little blanket to the bottom for her comfort. Maybe she is not a diva after all!
